We invite you to join us for “An Evening with the Nightshades,” to celebrate the Botanical Gardens as we honor the roots of this legacy.
Dress to impress the spirits of the garden, and enjoy an evening of dinner, drinks, dancing, trivia, a silent auction, exciting plants, door prizes and lots of fun and celebration!

As UNC Charlotte grew from a small college into a major research university, the Gardens grew from a modest test site for rhododendrons into one of the Charlotte region’s most beloved living resources.
The gardens were started with the blessing of the University’s founder Bonnie Cone, planted by the first professor of biology, Dr. Herbert Hechenbliekner, and later managed by the great Dr. Larry Mellichamp.
Ultimately the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens’ greatest legacy will measured by the knowledge shared, the curiosity inspired, the connections made, and the people who leave with a greater appreciation for the living world. We invite you to be part of this celebration and legacy as we create the future of the Gardens.
