Roy “Mack” Mancini: Sweet Birch

Categories: News

Sweet Birch (Betula lenta)

True to its name, Sweet Birch is one of the sweetest trees in the forest. With bark that smells like the birch beer which comes from its stems, this is a truly special plant. Sweet birch is typically a medium sized tree growing 40 – 70 feet tall with a pyramidal shape. It is native to Eastern North America and has few pests. It fares best in USDA hardiness zones 3 to 8.

Roy Mancini “Mack”

Charlotte, North Carolina

November 30, 1967 – January 29, 2026

Roy “Mack” Mancini was the kind of person who showed up for the people he cared about. He stayed connected in a real, hands-on way — checking in, making plans, and making sure his friends never felt alone.

He was steady, genuine, and deeply loyal. The kind of friend who would say, “What are you doing? Get dressed. Let’s go.” and pull you back into life when you needed it most.

Mack wasn’t just a friend — he was family to many of us. His presence, kindness, and the way he cared for others will always be remembered.

Life is fragile. Friendship is sacred.

Rest easy, Mack. You were loved and will never be forgotten. 🤍
