For one day only, the forest fairies have transformed the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens into a haven for mystical creatures from beyond the veil. Have your little ones adorn their fantasy garments and make the journey through forests and flowers with magical stops along the way! If you lack your own apparel, don’t fret! At the Elfin Emporium you may find wings, wands, and other treasures for your little adventurer. When you have at last discovered all the secrets our woods have to offer, you may find sustenance at one of the food trucks available in the parking lot adjacent to the event.

Within these woods you will find visiting fairies, gnomes, trolls, and much more. Become the guardian of a precious seedling, or get your hair braided by some mischievous mermaids. This is a self-guided event, your story is up to you!

Acorn Lief has fluttered in to spread some fairy dust around the Gardens! Do you think you can find her?

Let our braiding wizards work their magic on you at our fairy-hair station!

Mermaid Luna has been spotted around the creeks and ponds making friends with the fish! Careful not to get splashed!

Bust a groove at our Bubble Boogie! We’ll be playing lots of “pop” music!

The Mushroom Men have marched their way into the woods! Don’t fear, they’re pretty fun-guys!

This year Woodland Wonderfest will include both the Van Landingham Glen and the Susie Harwood Garden, both of which are within the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens.

Please Note: Woodland Wonderfest is a walking trail event. Access to the Gardens for Wonderfest is through parking Lot #5. Please use caution of the trails as the terrain can be uneven and has roots, rocks, and wildlife. We ask that no strollers or dogs be brought onto the trails in order to preserve and protect the plants. Review our Garden Etiquette page for more information on what is and isn’t allowed while visiting.

Visitor parking for the Woodland Wonderfest is located at parking Lot 5 and East Deck. Find these on the campus parking map.
Lot 5 is a 1 minute walk to check in while East Deck is a 6 minute walk to check in. Parking is FREE.

Should inclement weather conditions arise that require us to shut down the event, we will not be able to reschedule. Further statement and full refunds will be offered should circumstances occur.
